Veneers

A movie-star smile isn’t just for the red carpets of Hollywood anymore. Modern innovations in cosmetic dentistry like porcelain veneers make a shiny, bright, beautiful smile possible for all of our interested patients.

Dental veneers are a simple and effective solution that help patients achieve their dream smile. At Elite Smiles Dental, Drs. Holler and Schmitz are pleased to offer this treatment option to the patients of Terre Haute.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Our team believes the natural smiles of all patients are beautiful, and as such, our practice offers cosmetic dentistry to enhance aesthetics if a patient so desires. One of these methods is applying porcelain veneers to front teeth to repair or amplify your smile.

Veneers are very thin porcelain shells that are permanently attached to your teeth. While commonly used to fix minor aesthetic issues like chips, cracks, dents or stains and discoloration on front teeth, we invite any adult patient interested in brightening their smile to ask us about veneers.

For the most natural look and feel, veneers are matched to both the color and shape of your teeth so they seamlessly blend in with your mouth. We maintain a professional partnership with several expert dental labs that help us get the best results and apply the veneers here in-house.

How Are Veneers Applied to My Teeth?

The entire veneer process is both painless and simple. First, we’ll have you come visit us to discuss your cosmetic dentistry goals and types of veneers. During this appointment, we’ll take pictures and impressions of your natural teeth so our dental lab can see the size, shape and color.

From here, we will send the photos of your mouth and information about your teeth to our partner dental laboratory to create a photo simulation.

This simulation will then be emailed to you for your approval. After approval an appointment is made to prepare your teeth for the veneers. A new impression is taken and sent to the lab to fabricate the veneers, which takes about 3 weeks.

Your veneers are then ready for placement and any final adjustments. If no other adjustments are needed, permanent dental glue is used to bond the veneer to the teeth.

The only step after this is to go show off your new, shiny smile to the world!

How are Veneers Different from Bonding?

If you’ve researched cosmetic dentistry, you may have heard of bonding along with veneers.

While veneers are made of porcelain, bonding uses a putty we match to the color and shape of your natural teeth. This putty is hardened with a curing light. Bonding is an excellent solution for patients looking to correct any cracks, chips or minor, light damages to their teeth.

Veneers, on the other hand, serve this purpose and can be used purely for looks. While veneers cost more, when comparing durability, they also last longer than bonding.
