Preventive Dentistry

Preventive DentistryPreventive dentistry is the practice of finding and correcting dental health problems before they have a chance to develop into something worse. Most of these procedures are simple and minimally invasive. Taking advantage of Elite Smiles Dental’s preventive services can save you time, inconvenience, and hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

How Does Preventive Dentistry Work?

Preventive dentistry is simple. During your routine exam and cleaning, our oral hygienist and dentist will examine your mouth, face, and surrounding areas for signs of underlying problems. If issues like tooth decay, inflammation, gum recession, and even oral cancer are spotted early, we will be able to treat them before they turn into something more serious.

There are also a variety of simple procedures and treatments available that can help stop these problems from developing in the first place. At Elite Smiles Dental, we believe being proactive is one of the most important steps to maintaining great oral health for years to come.

How Often Should I Go to the Dentist?

Coming in for regular cleanings and exams may be the best way to prevent dental problems. Our doctors recommend all patients come in at least twice per year for a routine visit. He may recommend more frequent visits, depending on a patient’s personal oral health needs.

During the first part of your visit, one of our friendly oral hygienists will thoroughly clean your teeth and mouth. While they are doing this, your hygienist will also be looking for signs of any potential problems such as built-up plaque and tartar, gum recession, bleeding, inflammation, discoloration, and more.

After your cleaning, our doctors will conduct an exam of your mouth, teeth, gums, and facial structure. Digital x-rays may be taken at our doctors’ recommendation. After your exam, we will explain our findings, discuss ways to improve and maintain your oral health and recommend any necessary treatment options.

Keeping your mouth healthy doesn’t have to be difficult! With preventive dentistry, you can protect your teeth and gums from health issues before they have time to develop.
